This morning, I want to talk to you about being COMMITTED TO COMPASSION! Compassion means to care of, to have sympathy, and to have empathy! The book of Acts describes a church that is Spirit-empowered! It is a supernatural community! It is a compassionate community! We see that in Acts 2:41-47, Acts 4:32-37 and we see it in our passage today in Acts 6:1-7!

Luke begins the book of Acts with Jesus giving the church a command…to wait until they are filled or baptized in the Holy Spirit. Jesus wanted the church to be a Spirit filled Church!

If you are going to be content…you have to choose to LEARN to be content! Choosing to contentment begins with saying thank you! When we tell someone thank you…it reminds us just what has been done for us!

During this series, I have a tremendous task. To help you…and then…have you help others EXPERIENCE CHRISTMAS. Please notice the words I have chosen…to EXPERIENCE CHRISTMAS…not HAVE Christmas…not DO Christmas…but to EXPERIENCE CHRISTMAS. EXPERIENCING CHRISTMAS is more than having a date on the calendar. It is more than putting up a tree and decorations. It is more than having time with family. It is more than buying or making gifts for each other. It is more than exchanging gifts. Experiencing Christmas is having a real sense…an awareness…and perhaps and emotional experience…that is connected to the “WHY” of Christmas. You see, EXPERIENCING CHRISTMAS is hard when you celebrate Christmas for the wrong reasons!

Prior to the feeding of the 5,000 Jesus had been performing miracles. He had healed the sick and cast out demons. As a result, a crowd of people followed Jesus and the disciples. Jesus sat on the mountainside and saw the crowds coming toward him. He saw something that was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Do you know what it was? Before I tell you…I want to remind you of something very important…there are facts…and then there is something that is just as important…do you know what that is? It is understanding the facts! Here is a fact for you…that comes straight from this passage. There was a hungry crowd without enough food to eat! Now…here is what is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Jesus saw a possibility! What did Philip see? He saw a problem! What do you have? Do you have a problem or a possibility!
